Crow Creek Mercantile

About Us

Crow Creek Mercantile is the only local grocery store in Girdwood, Alaska. Reminiscent of a quaint, country store, they have a little bit of everything for sale. It’s commonly referred to as “The Merc” by locals.

The little building “The Merc” resides in is quite unique and oozes tons of Girdwood charm. The wrap-around porch allows customers to access the building and get out of the rain and snow. There is also an entire walkway, the same length as the wrap-around porch, that is lined with dog food and dry produce. The dog food is a must because Girdwoodians love their dogs!

The Merc is owned and operated by Safeway and the rumor has it The Merc is the smallest store in Safeway’s entire inventory. Another major benefit is if you have a Safeway or Carrs Customer Card, you can use it at The Merc and get all the latest deals!

Hours of Operation

7 AM-12 AM Monday-Friday

Product

For the most part anything they sale at a big Safeway, you can find at The Merc. The quantity is just smaller because of the store size.

  • They sell fresh produce, fresh meat, hot deli food, dairy products, pet food, frozen foods canned foods, and bread products.

  • They also have a small section of household items and cleaning supplies.

  • A small liquor store resides in a corner of the building. It’s small but the selection is awesome!

  • You can also exchange your propane bottles at this location

  • You can also rent a rug doctor for those weekends with nothing to do

  • An Alaska USA ATM machine sits in the inside walkway

Location

The Merc is centrally located in the Town Square. It’s next to Hightower Pub
