Alyeska Bike Park
Opens June 30, 2023 for the Summer Season on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays!
Overview
Alyeska Bike Park is routinely in the top 10 list for resorts with downhill mountain biking. Adding to the fact that it’s also Alaska’s only lift-accessed downhill bike park and it’s a must-do while visiting Girdwood!
Alyeska's Bike Park terrain includes a variety of downhill and technical trails for beginner to advanced riders. The trails include top-to-bottom access with a mix of road, single-track and man-made features.
Getting There
Alyeska Resort is 45 minutes from Anchorage. The best place to access the bike park is at the Day Lodge. From here, you can access all three trails normally opened for lift access. To access the Day Lodge Parking lot, take Alyeska Highway to Arlberg Ave. Take a right and follow the road to the parking lot.
Trail System
Typically there are three chairlifts opened to haul bikers up the mountain. The Bear Quad trails are the easiest for beginners and intermediate riders. You will find a few expert level runs but they are short. Alyeska Resort typically charges less for a ticket if all you want to do is ride the Bear Quad all day.
Ted’s Express will take you to mid-mountain and access to the Glacier Bowl Express. From mid-Mountain down, the trails are intermediate to expert runs. So, if you are brand new to single-track riding, stay on the Bear Quad. One of the more well-known trails available from mid-mountain down is Tanaka Grasslands. This varied level trail will take you through lush grassland, over tabletops, and offers some of the smoothest high speed riding on the mountain.
The Glacier Bowl Express takes you to the top of the mountain. This lift will give you that all-mountain experience that Alyeska is famous for in biking blogs. The views from the top of Mount Alyeska are gorgeous with the Girdwood Valley and Inlet on full display. From this lift, you can access the Bore Tide Deli and Bar which is located at the top of the Tram. Glacier Bowl Express is also the gateway to Silvertip trail. A Rockin trail with banks of glacial silt, jumps, and berms that descend from 2500 feet. But just like mid-mountain, there is no easy way down the mountain
