Girdwood Weather

Girdwood is in a rainforest which incidentally is the Northernmost Rainforest in the world. This means that Girdwood is WET. The wet season lasts for six months from August to February and there is a greater than 45% chance on any given day being a wet day. The best part is that the wet weather can also mean SNOW. Girdwood sees between 150-200 inches of snow per year. But Alyeska Mountain gets a whopping 600 inches per year on average! This makes for some awesome skiing. The “Dry” season is not all that dry which runs from March-July. There is still a 35% chance of rain on any given day.

The average temperature in Girdwood in the summer is 57 degrees but there are days that the temp can reach 70 degrees. On those days, people are out playing in the great outdoors. The average winter temperature is 34 degrees with approximately 75 inches of snow per year. So this means that in Girdwood there may be lots of rain and ice in town, but at the top of Alyeska Mountain, there is snow!
