Chugach Powder Guides
About Us
The Ultimate Alaskan Heli-Skiing Experience!
CPG by the numbers: 750,000 acres of skiable terrain in one of the most pristine heli-skiing destinations in the world, 700 average inches of powder snowfall each year, 4 helicopters, 2 snowcats, and one outstanding Alyeska Resort equals an unforgettable heli-skiing trip in Alaska’s Chugach Mountains. CPG's unique mix of ski terrain, guiding, accommodation, and accessibility cannot be beaten.
Our vast heli-skiing zones offer our guests more terrain options than any other heli-skiing operation in the world. Within minutes of arriving at Alyeska in our Girdwood, Alaska location, you can scope out the perfect line on the North Face; soak the flight away at the hotel's spa, or dine at a number of fine restaurants; but be sure to prepare to drop in on-ramps, couloirs, steep spines, moderate powder fields, and every kind of terrain in between.
Safety First
Our first priority is to deliver a safe and compelling ski adventure to each of our guests that you'll remember fondly for the rest of your life. Our leadership and guide team spend hours each morning and each evening assessing the weather and snow conditions to ensure we're taking appropriate precautions for a great day in the mountains.
Guides
Our guides take great pleasure and pride in bringing CPG guests into this environment for an experience you'll remember for the rest of your life. Most of our guides have spent their entire lives dedicated to outdoor pursuits in Alaska; often considered the pinnacle of skiing and riding.
Activities & Tours
Heli-Skiing Tours
At CPG, we only operate the best helicopter: the "A-star". Its exceptional lifting capability, high endurance, extended range, and fast cruise speed make the AS350 the leader in its class. For heli-skiers, that translates into flying further, higher, faster and more reliably than in other aircraft.
Our heli-skiing days usually begin at 9am with a pick-up from the Hotel Alyeska. We bring lunch, bottled water, snacks and extra safety gear and equipment. Lunch typically includes a selection of gourmet sandwiches (customized to any dietary needs), hot soup, dessert, and hot drinks. Our guests typically arrive back at the hotel between 4-7pm depending on the weather and where CPG flies in a particular day.
Snow Cat Skiing and Boarding
CPG has offered spectacular cat skiing in Girdwood for almost 15 years. Over that time, the accessible terrain available to CPG has more than doubled.
Today, during a typical cat skiing day we average 10,000 vertical feet of skiing over 8 runs. CPG cat guides draw upon a variety of terrain options to deliver a great day of skiing, including gladed trees, steeps, open powder fields, rock features, pillows, and more.
Expect 8-12 guests and two guides per snowcat group. Snowcat guests will receive an avalanche beacon to use for the day. Our cat skiing trips depart from directly outside the Hotel Alyeska, offering great convenience for our guests
