Alyeska Multi-Use Trail
Overview
The Alyeska Multi-Use Pathway is a paved, lighted multi-use trail that extends from the Seward Hwy to the Hotel Alyeska. This 4-mile trail parallels Alyeska Highway and is popular with walkers, bikers, skiers, and runners.
An active community, citizens of Girdwood use the Pathway to patron businesses, visit friends, and grab the local bus service. Locals make signs and post them along the trail highlighting safety, upcoming events, and good-feeling messages. Girdwood Valley Transient runs a free bus service within Girdwood and picks up people at various locations along the trail.

Considerations
Alyeska Highway is a busy road and the average speed is 45 miles per hour. In 2016, AKDOT redesigned the pathway and at each major road intersection the path jets towards Alyeska Highway. Watch kids and animals at these intersections as the path travels very close to Alyeska Highway. Be careful and mindful of driveways that cross the path as people exit and enter their private residences.
