About Us
Whether you're interested in a personalized glacier and wildlife viewing cruise, watertaxi support for your kayaking expedition, Lazy Otter Charters Inc. would love to help with your Prince William Sound adventure.
We have three vessels to accommodate groups from 2–27 passengers and cruise options from 4 to 8 hours. Departing from Whittier, an easy day trip from Anchorage, enjoy a wildlife and glaciers cruises in the calm protected waters of Prince William Sound. Every cruise includes a beach walk and lunch.
Lazy Otter Charters offers a variety of adventures including guided kayaking adventures to Blackstone Glacier where you can kayak among the icebergs. Or join us on a fall cruise throughout October or a winter cruise in March through April and experience a true winter wonderland.

Family-owned since 1994, we are the only small-group cruise to offer beach landings exploring the lush coastline of The Sound. We offer private or scheduled sightseeing to the largest concentration of tidewater glaciers in Alaska.
Lazy Otter Cafe and Gift Shop
Come enjoy our charming café on the harbor. Enjoy an espresso made with, local Alaskan, Raven’s Brew coffee. Be sure to try the “world-famous” salmon spread on a bagel or a soft service ice cream treat. Activities & Tours
Custom Tours
Lazy Otter Charters Inc. has three custom sightseeing options to choose from and we customize the day to meet your desire. Delicious Alaskan style lunch included. Our priority is to make the day yours and explore the things you like to see.
Best of Prince William Sound - 8 hour tour - This is our most comprehensive tour. Once aboard we’ll discover your personal priorities and design the day to customize your experience.
Blackstone Glacier Cruise - 4.5 hours. - Our journey up Blackstone Bay takes us close to shore admiring the sheer cliff walls and tumbling waterfalls in route to two tidewater glaciers, Beloit and Blackstone. This cruise is offered in fall, winter and spring for groups of 12 or more.
6-hour Wildlife and Glacier - 6.0 hours - We visit Lake Bay where we often see Steller sea lions, bald eagles and commercial fishing action at the Wally Norenberg Hatchery. After exploring the area for wildlife we’ll head into Blackstone Bay.
Kayaking
We offer Kayak guided tours and rent kayaks for your personal use.
Guided Kayak Adventure- The guided kayaking adventure starts with a water taxi ride into Blackstone Bay. We’ll leisurely paddling around the ice bergs and Blackstone Glacier for a couple of hours. For lunch we’ll head to the beach enjoy a picnic lunch and a short hike, then back to the kayaks for another bit of paddling to Beloit Glacier
Winter Tours
Enjoy a winter wonderland glacier cruise to Blackstone Bay. Live the history of glaciations as we cruise among the sheer cliff walls, wide glacier outwash streams, and deep groves and striations scoured in the rock walls. This 3.5 hour glacier cruise is one of a kind experience.
In less than one hour from Whittier you will be sitting at the face two tidewater glaciers, Beloit and Blackstone and see the numerous waterfalls and hanging glaciers, remnants of giant glacier’s retreat. In route we’ll stop to photo sea otters and harbor seals that make their home in this part of the sound. During our adventure we’ll step ashore to experience the natural geology and thick rainforest. Enjoy a snack and hot drink as you reflect on yourjourney and this magnificent nook of Alaska. Cruises Oct 1-30 and March 1-April 31
Water Taxi
Lazy Otter Charters specializes in transporting sea kayakers and other adventurers to remote areas of the Sound out of Whittier, Alaska, including to the Forest Service Cabins in the area. Our beachable boats provide safe, fast, friendly, and dependable drop-off and pickup services anywhere in Western Prince William Sound
Our vessels, are all beachable for ease in loading and unloading. The Qayaq Chief and High Velocity are landing crafts which makes loading kayaks and gear a breeze. We can accommodate individuals and groups of varying size.
Marine Services
Lazy Otter Charters is able to offer many convenient marine services based out of Whittier. Our rates are reasonable and our services prompt and reliable with safety as our first priority.
Marine Diving Repairs and Support - We change zincs, inspect your prop, find lost keys…to name a few
Towing and Salvages Services - Commercial towing throughout Western Prince William Sound. Fuel delivery, battery jumps, minor marine engine repairs
Salvage and recoverySmall Freight Hauling - Grocery, fuel, supply delivery and building supplies.
Location
We are located in Whittier, Alaska which is approximately 15 minutes from Girdwood and an hour from Anchorage. Look for our green roof just left of the East Boat Ramp in Whittier (Lot 2)
